 Year   2010
 Nomination Result

Lakeview School has been involved in working at Henley Lake and Wetlands for a number of years. They did their first planting in 2003 and this year have been involved in a weeding programme.

Henley Trust 2003 has had an excellent working partnershhip with Lakeview School since 2003. A number of classes are at present studying flax and have been down ato the Henley Wetlands looking at the flaxes. As a part of this study, they have undertaken to do a weeding project over 3 weeks. With the difficulty of very hard ground in some areas, the students have been involved in removing river weeds that have been growing near young trees planted the previous year.

They have mad a great impact on the area and this will be followed up with more clearing and mulching around the plants.

As a trustee, I have worked with the students and have found that their knowledge and interest is growing year by year, as students work over a number of years, planting and maintaining the area. The students do a regular rubbish collection and are taking more responsibility for their planting and also weeding and mulching. They have a very good understanding of their environment.

Nominated by: Liz Waddington of the Henley Trust.
