Kerikeri Basin Fourth Monday Weedbusting
Monday 24 April 2017, 9:00am
The Kerikeri Basin Weedbusters work in the Kerikeri River Scenic Reserve and its buffer zone, the Kerikeri Basin Recreational reserve, over the river from the Stone Store and the Mission House. The group meets on the second and fourth Monday of each month, from 9am to noon, and has been going for 11 years. In the scenic reserve, which is regenerating lowland podocarp-broadleaf forest, we deal mainly with tradescantia, climbing asparagus and African club moss, together with kahili ginger, arum lilies, loquats, monkey apples, Taiwan cherries, jasmine and Bangalow palms. In the recreational reserve we deal with Japanese honeysuckle, tobacco weed, kahili ginger, Taiwan cherry, moth plant and banana passionfruit to prevent their spread into the scenic reserve. Volunteers are welcome.
