The Weedbusters initiative for the Bay of Islands has been focusing on the Kerikeri basin area and the many weed species that have invaded the reserves and tracks there. Recently a Taiwan Cherry Awareness Day was held where members of the public were invited to get involved in controlling the Taiwan cherry growing in this area. There was a good turn out of volunteers who all worked hard, continuing the good work from last years’ efforts.

A Basin Weeding Day occurs every second Monday of the month, where regular volunteers and anyone else keen to get involved can get out there and get stuck in to Taiwan cherry and other weedy species that cross their path.
