Profile
Paremata Flats encompasses tidal estuary, river and forest areas. It has a high ecological value protecting forest remnants, including specimens of kahikatea and kowhai, and provides habitat for many species including fernbird (mātātā) and banded rail (moho pererū).
Forest and Bird have been restoring areas previously farmed, planting over 96,000 trees.
We now coordinate monthly weeding working bees, usually the first Sunday of the month. Of particular concern are old mans beard and blackberry.
