Helen Chambers would be great candidate for Weedbusters Awards.

She works consistently along the foreshore of Governors Bay weeding, even if it’s just when she walks her dog, and planting. She also alerts the CCC when attention is needed in the area. She coordinates with Simon Johnson when she spots OMB.

She has come up with an idea for a Community Weed liaison person using funding from DoC (if we get it), this is a project that supports what we already do by employing a person in the summer to visit homes in GB and ask to see if there are nasty weeds in their gardens and removes them. The targeted weeds are those we are not already working on (eg OMB), but are still a threat to biodiversity in our area.
