Our group is continuing the long struggle against the super invasive kahili ginger around the Herekino area of Northland. This year our team of ‘Ginger Ninjas’ clocked around 7000 hours backpack spraying around 750 hectares of our rohe that is infested with this weed.
Though all the full time crew are paid for their mahi the project is managed voluntarily, and this year (2014) about 800 voluntary hours have been clocked keeping the project on track.
We are keen to help others in the Far North become more effective in treating kahili ginger in their rohe.
